Damn it. She should have been all right with it. It shouldn't have bothered her as much as it did. And yet... Even just knowing was a lot for her to take, to try and hold in what she knew by then was jealousy.
It was cloudy, cool as the weather started to change towards autumn. Aside from leisurely outings and meeting new people, most of Adela's time had been spent employed as a gardener for the grounds owned by the Coven, which was at least nice for keeping her outside and near the more familiar greenery. Even then she was trimming the bushes, working on keeping them healthy and bagging the trimmed branches as she went. It felt like she was seeing Zelman less often though, and instead she would often see Sayuka standing dutifully outside his room while a familiar cacophony of noise sounded within.
She knew it was how he fed. She knew it was how he kept his energy up. That it was a necessity for him... And yet the looks of sympathy she got from Sayuka spoke everything she felt. Maybe Sayuka had been bitter towards her too, but the fact that the older woman understood that feeling only bothered Adela more. Did Sayuka's feelings mean nothing to him? And... Did that mean her feelings meant nothing, too?
A particularly tough branch flew into her face when she cut it, and the girl recoiled with a hiss of pain as she touched the then-damaged skin. Damn, a cut? Just what she needed, it was apparently already hard enough for some of his house to leave humans alone and she was bleeding too. Instead of continuing on she instead put the shears down, slipping the offending branch into the bag with the rest before moving inside to get the first aid kit. The sooner it was at least covered up, the better.
Still, knowing that she had to cover it also hit her stomach with an uncomfortable pang. The kit was in the kitchen, which meant that there was a chance of seeing him there. Was that good or not? She didn't know. She also didn't know why it felt like he was more distant recently in the first place, and whether or not it was intentional. Maybe she was worried over nothing. Maybe she wouldn't even see him there.
But, through it all, she remembered the words he had spoken to her when they had first met. He had only helped her because he was bored and she seemed like someone who would alleviate that. Maybe... He was bored of her...?
Hey, Maki. Are you enjoying the silent moment in front of the piano when no one else is around? Maybe you should enjoy it while it lasts...
Or maybe Maki shouldn't get too used to idea of being alone there today, because everyone's favorite idol slams the door open like a queen that Nico thinks she is. Nothing unusual to see here, just Nico being Nico. She walks to the redhead, leaves a very pink envelope on the piano and walks back to the door.
I-Is that a love letter? Well, there's only one way to find out, isn't there? The two boxes on that envelope have text on them;

Open it if you dare, Maki. Although it seems like Nico isn't leaving, she just looks around to the hallway to make sure no one's there before she shuts the door. Maybe it's not a love letter after all? MAYBE!
Zelman Clock because I'm predictable
