Attack on Avatar
Whether it's Jean + Mikasa or Jean + Korra, this is a place for any Avatar World AUs where Jean is on default a waterbender for the Southern Water Tribe. I play these AUs with Nea and her amazing girls.

She keeps a polite face and smile through the ride whenever someone speaks to her, it's not like she doesn't have manners and she has nothing against these people. They seem to notice that something's off but figure it's just the fact that water is going to be the most difficult challenge to any Avatar born in the Fire Nation.
They're not correct but she pretends like they are and doesn't want to say what it's all really about. Seeing the world is great at least, she's really enjoying this whole traveling thing and all of the amazing sights everywhere around them... But she's new to this whole Avatar thing, it's been a lot to take in and that's a colossal understatement.
So if anyone in the Water Tribe is expecting to see a firecracker going boom, Mikasa may be the biggest disappointment ever as she ... is so serious and totally emotionless, that she can hear younger people asking their parents 'Where's the Avatar? I want to see her!' Right, she's calm like earth with her feet on the ground and all and she hasn't even begun her earthbending training yet. That would come after this if she'll ever even get through water.
She's grabbing her stuff and the others' stuff too from the bison after gently thanking the big giant for the ride by giving it some snacks.
... And then she's looking completely lost about what to do next, where to take her stuff or where she's going to stay while all the airbenders look busy with the older waterbenders. Sigh. Looks like this is starting well.

"For the last time, I'm not going to teach some stupid, bratty Avatar waterbending! Why should I?!"
"Jean, just calm down and-" A woman's voice adds to the conversation.
"No! I'm done with this conversation. You can't force me to do this!"
The youngster, Jean, storms out of the tent. He's around the same age as Mikasa, wearing the traditional Southern Water Tribe clothes and a tiny ponytail to hold his hair back. He's got a very mean look on his face, that's for sure. But when he almost bumps into Mikasa he... well, he doesn't look as angry anymore, but more dumbfounded and flustered by the beauty in front of him.
The woman who spoke earlier follows him.
"Jeanbo, just- Oh, are you the Avatar? Mikasa?" She asks gently because she's received the description of this beautiful young woman.
Wait... what? The Avatar? This was...? Jean can't help but just stare, unable to say much anything.
no subject
She's heard much about him, not that she wants to trust things she hears but rather learns herself whether or not he's really like what people say. Apparently his way of seeing the world is different.
It's her first time seeing him in any form when he storms out of there meaning she has never seen pictures or anything either. She just happens to look into his direction because she's
curious to see himcoincidentally looking at something somewhere around there. She'd look away but there's the woman coming at him/her/them and more people coming to get all of the stuff from her. She's reluctantly giving them away, it's not like she'd mind carrying her own stuff to wherever she's supposed to take them.
The woman's attention goes to her and Mikasa is quick to make a fake but entirely real looking polite smile followed by their typical bow.
"Ah, yes, that would be me." Should she continue 'at your service'? Maybe. She'll say that later. Jean on the other hand gets a cold glance but nothing more before she's ignoring him again. "Shame that your ... Waterbending master refuses to teach me, I was really looking forward to that but I guess I'll find someone else or learn by watching anyone else."
no subject
"Oh, no no... my son is just being a bit difficult. He's at the age he needs to rebel against everything, you see?" She laughs softly and Jean glares at her before glancing over to the Avatar again. "He's actually so kind and confident, but I think it's the pressure of being one of the youngest masters we've had that's getting at him. Do forgive him."
"Mom. Enough." Jean says through gritted teeth, clearly annoyed. It seems she's hitting all the right answers.
"Oh and my name is Lynne, it's a pleasure to meet you. Jean, show the Avatar to her sleeping quarters and then both you appear for the dinner, hmm?" She goes back inside the tent, leaving the two alone, before Jean can argue more.
The young man sighs, still blushing a bit. This is off to a fantastic start and it looked like he couldn't escape his duties after all. Well... maybe it wouldn't be so bad. Though if he messes up, he'll be a laughing stock and the Avatar will never learn waterbending. Great.
"Uh... this way."

Naturally, Jean decided to arrange so that he could go after her, telling Korra's parents he'd take care of her. He had also arrived to the Air Temple while Korra was away to talk with Tenzin about living there as well - which he was allowed.
So when Korra was coming back from wherever she had been, she's greeted by a ball of water straight at her face. A big one.
no subject
So it's been a long day in a real city in the middle of everything and with everything happening. Korra's mostly paying attention to the airkids and everything else, then as soon as they leave, she's still deep in her own thoughts. So of course she doesn't see the water coming at her before it's too late.
Bullseye to her face! "HEY!" Korra is about to start a fight there but then she sees ... him and there's instantly the most sheepish, totally ashamed of her actions look on her face.
"...Oh, hey, Jean. I guess now I won't ask them to come get you with a bison or arrange another ride for you..."
no subject
"Which you wouldn't have needed to do if you just grabbed me before leaving. Were you really in that much hurry? A few minutes, maybe even less. It's not like I would have been sleeping at that hour!" Look, he's tired and annoyed over the long trip. "Don't even get me started on how I got here..."
Like Korra, Jean's a bit too fast at jumping into action. Likely a proper transportation could have been arranged, but he was gone before that was discussed.
"Luckily, Master Tenzin agreed to let me stay here, too, so I don't need to find a place to sleep in on top of everything."
no subject
"Yeah, I was and clearly I wasn't thinking about anything or anyone else at that moment of leaving there so late! Or otherwise I would have rushed to grab you without even telling where we are going before we'd have been on our way...!" She huffs and there is a very tiny little flame coming from her mouth with that.
She looks worried as soon as he says no question and she can see that he is tired... So Korra closes most of their distance, coming close to Jean in rush. "Are you okay? Need a healer for anything?"
... So he will actually be staying too then?? There is a hint of an amused smirk on her smile. "Good because otherwise I would have had to sneak you into my room. Look, I'm really glad to see you here..."
Just when Korra is about to close all of the distance with a hug, Naga changed that plan by tackle hugging Jean for kisses and cuddles.
no subject
"'m fine. I just need a good night's rest." Which, he admits, would likely be more effective if he did stay in Korra's room, but he doesn't actually say that. That's just too embarrassing.
Naga rushing to hug him is not surprising, even if it does catch him off guard right at the moment. He laughs and starts petting the giant dog immediately.
"Hey, girl. Good to see you too."
no subject
"I'll make sure you get that rest, especially if you stay in my room." She could say 'our' room but it's too early for that. Her room, for now, not that she minds sharing it or anything else with Jean.
Naga is so, so very excited to see Jean! Why are you two wasting time by arguing, she has no idea, that's not how meetings are supposed to start if anyone asks her. She keeps on going with the excited kisses and cuddles and all until she gives some space...
Korra pulls him up as soon as she can and then literally jumps to hug him herself too, not letting them fall down this time though.
no subject
"It's good to see you, too. I'm definitely going to sleep in your room tonight."
Saving Korra from Amon + aftermath
As the situation looks bad as Amon'ss men approach her quickly, Jean puts his hands forward and looks straight at the men trying to capture Korra (so they could to move her to the truck with Tarrlok) and then it clicks with him what he should be able to do. Jean uses only his instincts to tab into the blood inside them, effectively stopping them in their tracks.
After the initial shock, he quickly lets go and then bends the snow to make give Korra a quick escape down the mountain, yelling at her to keep the snow going. He then turns around to restore his grip on the guys, just in case, but he's bloodbend by Amon to a halt. He attempts to fight it with his own bloodbending abilities, only fail and be mocked by Amon. He tells him 'it's a shame to take the skill of another bloodbender'.
Once Amon took his bending away, he sends Jean after Korra. He's sliding down the snow they had previously made with their abilities, without the ability to actually slow himself down - and quite frankly, he's too much in shock to even think about it.
Meeting Sakura
He has a habit of disappearing somewhere from time to time between their lessons. This time though, he's not going to go alone - at least he hopes he won't. There's something he needs to try which would likely benefit both the Avatar and whatever he's up to.
"Now that our lesson is over for today... Want to join me on a snow leopard caribou ride? I want to show you something."
imagine an infinite amount of hearts here
Mikasa has been wondering where he disappears to but it's not any of her business, so she doesn't ask and keeps on doing whatever Jean tells her to do during those times. She's becoming curious though, almost feeling like rebelling against staying behind and sneaking to see where he is going... He's not in any danger, no? Doing anything bad? Nah, she doesn't think so but sometimes she almost makes herself go after him with thoughts like that... Is it worrying or suspicion, that's hard to tell but she seems like a worrier. (It's definitely worry even if being worried about him so soon isn't something she admits to herself yet.)
Oh but today he asks that and Mikasa looks surprised to get the invitation.
"Is that where you've been going...? Umm, sure, I'm curious to see... That ride sounds nice too."
Whatever there is but that sounds so rude???
let's drown in an imaginary sea of hearts
"Yeah. I think it's about time you were let in on the secret. As long as you know how to keep it." If there was a need to do so, that is.
Being the lazy ass (or just a show off) he is, he lifts a backpack with the help of snow to put it on his back. Why lift when you don't need to, really? Plus it's something for the copycat to try out later. Then he starts walking towards the caribou stables.
"Are you confident enough to try and ride a caribou on your own or do you want to ride with mine?"
keep me/mi drowning into your/his looove
Mikasa blinks. "I ... Me? I can keep secrets, I promise." She's generally pretty quiet and amazing at keeping her poker face, so he doesn't need to worry about that. Unless it's something dangerous, then she would unfortunately have to break that promise.
Oh he is definitely a show off but Mikasa is taking notes of that like she always does and then shows off later with her copycat skills too just when anyone leasts expects it. She follows him, letting him lead the way as if she has no idea where they're going even though she is walking right beside him.
"Sure, I'd love to try riding one alone." She leaves the part unsaid where she'd also like to ride his with him but maybe would come up somehow somewhere later.
of course~
Jean is a bit disappointed in 'try riding one alone' bit. Not that he'd say anything like that out loud. And he really needed to try and control his wayward feelings anyway. It's just a passing crush, nothing more, don't feed it.
When they get to the stables, it seems the situation itself decides for them. There's only one caribou available right at this time.
"Looks like another time for your solo ride. Unless you feel uncomfortable getting on one with me... we can go some other day too."
no subject
She's disappointed in herself for answering that, really, thinking how the hell she could change her mind from it suddenly without looking like an idiot!! There goes her perfec chance to spend more time close to him, why did she say that?? What if she'll be too shy to change her mind about it??
The Avatar really needs to hide a relieved sigh when there's only one of those animals present at the stable.
She nods at him saying about the solo ride and is quick to try to reach out to him but pulling her hand back when he starts talking about uncomfortable. "No---!!" Ooops, looking really shy and blushing a lot after that. "It's fine, we can go together now, I don't mind at all."
no subject
"Good to hear. It would be a shame to... uh... postpone this." Stupid fluttering butterflies, telling him how excited he really is about this. "Let me help you up first."
The snow leopard caribou is calm and patient, waiting for Jean and Mikasa to both get on like a gentleman. Jean gives him a good pet on the back of his head.
"Uhh... you might want to hold onto me." More blushing, but at least he's not facing her this time.
no subject
O-Oh no, he is adorable with that laugh and everyhing though it's not helping with her blush at all!! Stupid butterflies flying all around, indeed.
Why would it be a shame to postpone this? What kind of a secret is it? Time sensitive? Maybe it's something that's there only for a while... Mikasa nods at helping her up, lets him do that even if she could go herself but somehow she wouldn't even want to since this is much nicer. What a gentleman, she wouldn't have thought about that on her first moments of meeting Jean.
And the caribou is a gentleman too, Mikasa pets him for being a good boy!
H-Hold on to him? "Mm, okay." Mikasa nods again, saying same words as she said at him helping her to get up... She's blushing again, much more than before and she's glad Jean can't see any of i. Also she is slowly, gently and hesitantly putting her hands on his back first. Then moving them to his sides... Then hugging him, not wanting to waste their time and trying to hide her blush somewhere around his back.
no subject
"Okay, let's go." He grabs the reins and gives the caribou a signal to move and he starts running on the snow, towards the vast fields outside of the village. The ride is very smooth and not too fast, either. It seems he's an experienced rider.
"One of my favorite things is watching the world around me as I ride. The way the sun hits the snow and makes everything sparkle... sounds a bit cheesy, but it's the simple things sometimes."
no subject
It's... It feels nice, riding there, holding him and the ride is so smooth that she's mostly focusing on looking around even before Jean says anything.
"Seems to be one of my favorite things to do here as well... Nothing wrong with enjoying the simple things anytime." It's great when life is calm and simple, not exactly the descrption of life as the Avatar most of the time. What he says about snow too is so true, she loves everything about this. "Thank you. This is beautiful."
no subject
"Maybe we can come for a ride every now and then. I can show you around elsewhere, too." Every time he'd needed some time for himself he'd travel around the South Pole. It's how he actually got more talented with waterbending, too - by challenging himself to the new and unknown.
It takes a few hours to reach their destination. Jean gets off the caribou and helps Mikasa down, too. "Please wait here for a moment. There's some meat in the backpack for our hardworking friend, too, if you'd like to give that to him."
He disappears behind an icy corner and it takes at least ten minutes until he calls Mikasa to join him.
no subject
"I'd really like that." No, she'd love that. "Mm, you could, it would be great to see anywhere that we can go here..." Full tour, yes please!
The hours go so quickly in his company and with these surroundings though she doesn't lose track of time anyway. She could get down herself, it's just nice to le him help her and get that connection with him too. Why? She doesn't know but he sure is a gentleman now.
"Okay... I'll feed him while I wait."
And there he goes. Mikasa on the other hand does the feeding thing, bonding with the caribou while she's at it because what tame animal doesn't love a gentle person feeding them?? She'd pet him but she wants to give him peace to eat.
Luckily that's also when Jean calls her to get there and Mikasa doesn't waste time with her steps, not that she's running but she doesn't hesitate with it at all with how curious she is to see what he's hiding. Besides it almost feels like she's really supposed to go there like it's not just Jean calling her, it's something else. Something new. Something...
No time to finish that thought when there's already something or someone tackling her as soon as Mikasa gets there and she falls to the ground. Weird. She's usually always ready to keep herself on her feet, no matter what happens and never letting her guard down but sure seems like that happens now. Apparently she doesn't even consider the sudden cuddling and kissing tackler as an attacker when she's not even trying to defend from it with her bending. But there is stunned silence. What's this???
no subject
Before Jean can say anything the tiger cub is already in action, running towards Mikasa. "Hey-!"
Down they go and Jean just watches, dumbfounded. He knows Mikasa doesn't let anyone catch her off guard - believe him, he's tried - so seeing this happen is strange... yet somehow amazing. And seeing the tiger so openly accept her when it took Jean a long while to gain her trust.... yeah. He smiles.
"Looks like I was right. She was waiting for you."
no subject
Oh yeah, he has totally tried to catch her off guard so often that the change in her behavior with that right now is way more than obvious to him. Mikasa is still even trying to understand what's going on. Sure, she knows about animal companions and she has been waiting for hers along with trying to find her but nothing has ever caught her attention... Except today she's getting caught instead.
"...Waiting? For me?" She's laughing at the cub and letting her purr all over her, giving some kisses to the cub's face and hugging her for a moment after them.
The cub gives one more kiss after the hug before she jumps off and Mikasa stays on the ground, offering a hand to Jean for him to possibly pull her back to her feet.
no subject
"Yeah. It's like she's always been waiting for something or someone. She started trusting me and I noticed she's rather tame for a wild animal... so that got me thinking she might have been looking for her destiny. You."
He crouches down to give the cub some pets. "Good girl."
no subject
"So the companion who I've been looking for has always been.... Here. Thank you for taking such great care of her and for telling her story."
Blushing again and also letting go of his hand before Jean crouches down.
The cub purrs loudly and cuddles to his hands, moving her head along with he pets. And then she kisses his face before and after tackling him too!
no subject
Jean's very used to getting tackled and he laughs at that, giving her a few kisses in return. His hair is covered slightly in snow but he doesn't seem to be bothered at all.
"I think you could follow us back home now. I talked with mom and dad and they agreed that would be okay... also, you need a name." He looks up at Mikasa. "And Mikasa should be the one to name you."
no subject
The cub smiles at all of the attention from him and seems to have very difficult time with stopping what she's doing! So more cuddling, kisses and purring.
They both look happy at the news of her being able to follow him home now. "Seems like she loves those news, I'm glad to hear that too, so... thank you." For arranging it and everything else too. Mikasa couldn't leave her here, nonononononono, or she could but she's relieved that she doesn't have to.
She looks at them, face thoughtful for a moment and crouching down to pet her... "Sakura... That's the one who I've been looking for in my dreams and she really looks like she fits the name too."
no subject
"That's a very good name. Sakura..." He gives her another kiss, before moving so he's sitting instead of lying down. "Snow Tigers grow really big. She's going to be big enough to actually carry you around... riding the caribou will let you learn how to do it later with her, if you both want that to be a thing."
no subject
"Thank you. Seems like we all think it's a beautiful name for a beautiful girl." Mikasa smiles. Sakura agrees too and gives more kisses to Jean too. She's trying to steal all the space on his lap once he sits up. "Wow, she... really is going to be a very big tigress then. I can start by riding the caribous at least, we'll see how she'll feel about letting anyone ride her later once she's big enough."
But that would be amazing, going around the world with the tiger and usually the animal companions are for that too and not just for keeping company to the Avatar. But if Sakura won't feel like it, then Mikasa can walk anywhere with her so that they both walk on their own legs. Or she'll carry the tiger if Sakura gets too tired!
no subject
"Yeah. You'll be able to see her grow while we train." There's a challenging grin on his face now. "It's a race to see which happens first: Sakura growing up or you mastering waterbending."
no subject
"Hopefully you'll have things for me to do for all that time." ...And then Jean says that next thing to this brat and next thing he gets while he's busy with the cub is Mikasa throwing a lot of snow on them. TOO MUCH even, she feels bad for it but he'll survive!!
no subject
Oh and then he attempts to sink the snow under Mikasa.
no subject
Mikasa on the other hand isn't slow either, she's easily dodging before the snow sinks her anywhere.
no subject
"Okay, I think it's time to start heading back. It'd be good to be back before nightfall so we can make all necessary arrangements for Sakura."
no subject
"Yeah, we should go."
As soon as Sakura hears that they're leaving, she stars running around in circles excitedly and then she looks like she's ready to walk all the way!
"... Well, I guess she wants to walk for a while at least."
no subject
"Oh, don't worry, I've already made sure the caribou is familiar with Sakura."
