[It was a fine day in the Pokémon world. A good day for both training with Pokémon and playing tennis... which were both planned for today in Shiraishi's schedule. Pokémon would get some exercise... with helping him and his friend play some tennis.

Though he's learned his lesson not to use Koharu (Kadabra) and Yuuji (Mr. Mime) for this so Kenjirou (Lucario) and Gin (Ampharos) are out for now to help. Now all they needed was the student of the day.]

[Daisuke didn't think that he would be playing tennis in Johto, if ever, really. But playing it didn't seem so bad and he was a little curious as to what Shiraishi did all the time back home, so. He was pretty confident in his athletic abilities too, but he wasn't sure if he could learn fast enough...

But he arrives and gives a wave.]

Hey! I'm not too late, am I?

[backtobasics]

[Shiraishi'll turn to look at Daisuke with a smile.]

You actually came in a good time... I just finished giving these two instructions on what to do.

At a good time... [He repeats it quietly. He's glad that he's not running on bad luck so far! That definitely puts a smile on his face for sure.]

Your Pokemon are going to be helping too? [He... actually hadn't thought of that, actually. But hey, the more, the merrier.]

[backtobasics]

That's right. Instead of practicing with a match I thought it would be easier to practice hitting first... and Pokémon can easily help with that.

[As a demonstration the Lucario will toss a ball while Shiraishi hits it with a racket.] Like this.

[Hm. He eyes Shiraishi's racket and takes note on how he swings it with the angle of the swinging tool, his swinging speed, etc and looks down at the one that he held in his own hand.]

So your Pokemon will be throwing the ball... Okay, I'll try it.

[So he gets in the zone and prepares himself, holding the racket firmly in his hand.]

[backtobasics]

Don't be afraid of mistakes at the beginning. Everyone does does when they're just starting.

[It may be stating the obvious, but better said than not in some cases.] Okay, ready? Kenjirou can start whenever you're ready.

[sketchythief]

Yeah, I'm ready. [Then he gets into position. It's pretty amateur-ish, but... there you have it.]

[backtobasics]

[Well Shiraishi won't comment on it... yet. Let's see how Daisuke does first.

With a signal Kenjirou starts of with throwing one ball for Daisuke.]

[sketchythief]

[When the ball comes, Daisuke just hits it back--probably a bit too strong since its first bounce was off the court. Oops.]

... Ah.

[backtobasics]

[... Shiraishi will try not to chuckle too loud. Beginners mistakes are just so nostalgic.]

Try hitting the ball with less strength next time and you should be able to do it.

[sketchythief]

Right... [He gets into position again, ready to swing his racket at any time.]

[And Kenjirou will throw Daisuke a new ball the same way it did last time.]

never minding--also i'm sorry for slow tags

[And Daisuke hits it again, right in the center of the racket. It flies pretty well and the ball's first bounce was within the court, but on the near edge the furthest line.]

it's alright! I'm quite on the slow side too... and I have no idea how tennis works aaa

[backtobasics]

That was already a lot better. It's still a matter of strength, mostly, but also a little on when you hit it... timing is also important.

I see... It's a little easier than I thought. I think the stamina would be a little worrying, if anything.

Well, stamina is rather important. Full matches can become really long ones, especially if you enter tiebreakers.

[sketchythief]

[Erk. Stamina really isn't his thing at all... It's not like he wants to go run 20 laps every day.]

... I'm not sure... [--if he wants to play that seriously, but that only means that he has to end things quickly, right?! Right.]
